GEFRA, as the manufacturer and developer of the OptiSort inspection and sorting machines, manufactures individual solutions based on its own standard machine construction kit. Thus, we were also able to develop a machine type recently, which is adapted to the special needs of a wide range of products. Several machines were manufactured on the basis of this design. The individual machines are identical to each other, so that test plans and machine data can be easily copied between the machines.

The machines and also especially the feeders were adapted to the very diverse range of products. This makes it possible to test and sort numerous different plastic products on all machines of this design. From very light, thin, long upright plastic tubes to large, thick toothed discs, testing and sorting is possible on all machines.

The feeders have been equipped with interchangeable inserts so that they can be quickly and easily adjusted to the products to be inspected. All individually adjustable guides and scrapers, are provided with scales which allow only a very short set-up time.

The basis is the construction of our glass plate machine, equipped with various camera stations. One top and one side camera each with backlight for dimension inspection, one borehole camera each from above and from below and one brightfield incident light camera each from above and below. The camera and illumination positions, as well as the guide for positioning the parts on the glass plate, can be adjusted by means of servo motors via the software and the position is stored in the inspection plan for the product. Despite the already extensive equipment, there is still plenty of free space for mounting additional camera, inspection and lighting stations.

A storage bunker supplies the feeder with parts, the system transports the good parts into large containers by means of a conveyor belt, all controlled by the GEFRA AutoControl machine software.
In this way, special applications are created in a short time on the basis of our standardized modular machine system. We continuously develop our machines and software, create new user tools and meet every challenge.

GEFRA offers two different basic machine types:

- OptiSort ST with steel ring plate for the inspection of fasteners, screws, blind rivets and long rod-shaped parts.
- OptiSort W with glass disc for testing nuts, washers, rivets and other flat parts.

Up to 1800 parts per minute can be processed, depending on the size of the parts and the inspection task.

Our portfolio starts with testing the dimensional accuracy of production parts such as shaft diameter, head diameter, thread parameters, contours, etc. In addition, we can inspect surface defects, scratches, cracks, symmetry, straightness, flatness, ovality, pattern matching and differences in material quality or hardness. Using color cameras, it is possible to detect surface color deviations, such as coating defects. The SFS (shape from shading) process can also be integrated into our systems.

Our user-friendly GEFRA AutoControl software is menu-driven with image input and mostly self-explanatory, requiring only minimal training.

The connection to your product data acquisition system or peripheral machines like packing stations or loading conveyors is absolutely possible and controllable with the software.
